FORESTRY

The Tattnall County Board of Commissioners adopted a timber harvest notification ordinance on April 5, 2021, in accordance to a state law change amending O.C.G.A. 12-6-24. Beginning July 1, 2023, Tattnall County requires all timber harvest operations to follow a notification process using the Georgia Forestry Commission’s website (https://gatrees.org/forest-management-conservation/timber-harvest-notifications/). 

The required information according to state law and the Tattnall County ordinance will be collected by the website and sent to the appropriate county offices.

BOND OR LETTER OF CREDIT REQUIRED

Per the ordinance, Tattnall County requires that each person or firm have an irrevocable letter of credit or surety bond in the amount of $5,000.00 on file with the county. The bond/letter of credit may remain on file for the calendar year, and only one for is required for each person or firm regardless of the number of tracts harvested, so long as it remains valid. You may post this bond/letter of credit in person with the Tattnall County Clerk, located at 108 W. Brazell St., Reidsville, GA 30453, or by mail to the Tattnall County Board of Commissioners, PO Box 25, Reidsville, GA 30453, ATTN: County Clerk.
